The AP exams are also provided by the College Board organization. The AP Examinations are administered each year in May and represent the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline in a secondary school setting. Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level.

Cost for the exams is $84 and there is a $22 fee reduction for demonstrated financial need. These are taken in the spring of the school year by junior and senior high school students. They are applied to the college transcript prior to beginning fall coursework.

Most colleges offer credit-by-exam options very cheaply. Check with the learning center or library facility. This is one of your first stops on this quest for a quick degree. They will have portfolio information, testing options and facilities as well as a coordinator that will be very qualified to discuss all of these options. Any information gathered here will always trump what your academic advisor has told you. The choices are only a few, but at Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College they can bring in up to 30 credits for a great score. These are tough exams, they are to demonstrate a mastery of a wide subject area fully. They are reasonably priced under $200 for what they could bring to your transcript at those colleges.
